Since the other throwback countdown shows have threads now, I decided to make one for Pop2K's Pop2Kountdown.
Also because apparently they've now reduced the countdown from 30 positions to 20, which sucks because the 2000s is another soft spot for me. This week was 2005.

I haven't listened to this show in a while, but I just saw somebody post about the big change on Facebook. It's very typical of modern day radio, where the people in charge continue to insist that listeners want only the biggest hits and nothing more. It's why Casey Kasem's AT20 became AT10 and other SiriusXM countdowns have changed for the worse in the past few years. The message I take from this is, the more interesting it is for true music fans, the worse it does in the overall ratings.

In the previous week's show from January 2009 (possibly the last one with 30 songs) there was a big mistake. Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent" was on the chart that week, but SXM (at least in the broadcast I recorded) played Kelly Clarkson's same-titled but different hit from 2003.

This week was 2002. I thought it was 2007 because I checked my app and they were playing "Paralyzer" until I double checked it. God I hate this change.

So for this week, they announced that this week was 2000...but the songs they played were from 2003. Nice job, guys!

This week they're actually are going back to 2000 this time, and it looks like AJ McLean and Joey Fatone are guest hosting.

That really sucks they went down to a top 20. I swear any change Sirius XM makes is never a good change. I like to hear the forgotten songs (#40-#21). The countdown was already done in a little over 2 hours. Now, it’s probably just over an hour long..lol. I wish the big change they would made is going to the Radio and Records charts instead of the Billboard charts. Sometimes you get to hear country and rap that doesn’t even fit in with the songs normally played on 90s on 9 and Pop2K. Makes no sense at all….

Rich’s 2000 intros include a significant error even when they’re actually introducing a countdown from that year. He said that 2000 was the year “we first met Harry Potter”. In fact the HP books started publication in 1997, and if he’s referring to the movies, those began in 2001.

This week’s show was a special: for Women’s History Month they played one hit apiece from the 2000s 20 top female stars.

This week it's 2004. Can anyone tell me if or when they reinstated Kanye West?
