While I no longer enjoy MTV, on its 25th anniversary, here are my three favorite (vintage!!) videos:
*A-ha's Take On Me *Bruce Springsteen's I'm On Fire *D.J. Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince's Parents Just Don't Understand I never got tired of seeing these videos.

Sad to think the place that will actually celebrate the 25th anniversary of MTV is Sirius's Big 80's channel. You would think MTV could dedicate something to it, but they care cool and hip so they wont even acknowledge it.

VH-1 Classic will be replaying the entire first broadcast day, 08/01/81. I read in an article in USA Today (Rob's favorite paper ) that the reason Mtv won't be observing the anniversary is because the 20th Anniversary celebration in 2001 was very poorly rated. In addition to the a-ha video noted above, I'll always stop and watch "Legs" by ZZTop, "Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order, and "Just Like Heaven" by the Cure. By the way, the Number One song the week of 08/01/81? "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield. My family and I will be going to see the VH-1 Classic "We Are The 80's" tour stop in Hollywood, Fl. The bill includes Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Loverboy and Scandal. Got my tickets in the mail today and I can't wait!

Make sure you set it to begin at midnight. I also think they're gonna reair it on this Saturday as well.

I set it for 11:55pm...the fact they showed this old shuttle launch for the first 15 minutes was a waste of time. Anyone know when this particular shuttle was launched?

Sirius had a three-hour program today to commemorate the first day of MTVs airing... Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter, Mark Goodman, and Martha Quinn hosted it togeher and discussed a lot of their memories of the first day (years actually). I have it recorded on mp3 if anyone is interested in trading for it.
Thanks, shawn
