Let the talk start about this show.
It has been on for a few months now.
I enjoy it. While short (10 songs or so - about 30 or 45 minutes top), it takes me back to the days of pre-Elvis 50s radio on some occasions.
Lou Simon is a great host. It also takes me back to the old 60's Satellite Surveys he used to host!
This week in 1951 was featured this week.

My Dad would have loved this, but he's been in Heaven for about 2.5 years now. My Mom is still earthbound so I will tell her about this when I see her this weekend. My Mom tells me she and Dad quit listening to "Popular" music in about 1957 because they didn't like Elvis.

It's the "Best-Selling Pop Singles" chart from the Billboard issue dated February 11, 1950. (That's the magazine issue date; the chart says "For Week Ending February 3")
I like how Lou's show focuses on the actual 1950s, unlike many oldies stations which have traditionally acted as the 50s didn't begin, at least musically, until about halfway through the decade and then extended through the early 1960s. I liked Norm N. Nite's "Remember Then" hour, but that "50s on 5" show covered years from 1955 to 1963.

It isn't in the Ultimate Music Database.

www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Billboard-Magazine.htmPage 26 of the February 11, 1950 issue. The top 10 (with a tie at #9) matches what Lou played. Incidentally, it matches the UMD chart dated "February 8, 1950", except that it lists "Johnson Rag" as #9 and "The Old Master Painter" as "#10". Both that site and Billboard sometimes get a bit funny or confusing with their dates in the 1940s and 50s.
