Last week Rick Dees had Phil Keoghan of the Amazing Race. I expected very little and he was decent.....
At least he's in show business!
This week Dees had racecar driver Marco Andretti as his host. God he was awful. Just awful.
Dees did balance it out by debuting his podcast service this week on his website. You can now get both the CHR show and the Hot AC show for FREE from his website. THAT is good stuff... more shows should do that... especially if your show is only available in ten cities (*sigh*).

The show is in mp4 files! Is there any way to put those on mp3 disc? Or somehow convert them to mp3?

I think iTunes is one of the few podcast players that will also convert to MP3. There are probably a few other programs out there that will do the trick, but I can tell you, with iTunes its a simple two clicks.

I'm listening to the HAC version of this past weekends WT40 with Marco Andretti. Does anyone have David Perry's cell phone on speed dial? We need him now to put some life back in this show!! And in typical Dees fashion, at least on the HAC version, there are a couple randomly placed extras with Rick introing them. Theres a reason Casey Kasem has a 36 year following and why there are no real "fan sites" devoted to WT40 fans or WT40 trading. There IS a difference.

Just put the "Con Savor" version on since I have yet to hear it....it was NOT guest hosted by Marco Andretti but rather someone else who sounds like a radio pro from the format who sounds very good.

Funny, I said the same thing in the chat room last night. Andretti may be the worst show host I have ever heard. Perry was boring, but you could at least assimilate to his style by sometime in the third hour. Andretti reading a script is sooooo painfully obvious!
And as you pointed out, the cut and paste nature of the show has Dees introing songs for the heck of it. You know, at least 10 years ago when he was out and he had a guest host, his spots during the show made sense and he would intro and outro the songs and "talk" to the guest, etc. This is just plain brutal!

Again with the Andretti show..there were actual stumbles and mistakes I heard that could EASILY have been cut and edited out, even without re-cutting the voicetrack. It's almost as if the Dees staff took a week off from even attempting.

I didnt know Dees staff did anything other than cut laugh tracks to attempt to make Dees seem humorous.
There are many things I dislike about Dees shows (although like a crack addict to countdowns I still listen), but one of them is his ignorant attamept to seem "live" when he says things Like "Hey, Kelly Clarkson just phoned in from the road and said that...." Ok, Rick, #1 Kelly idnt phone you from the road.... and ok, lets play your little game for a second... how does Kelly know the exact time youre cutting the show each week? Its not like youre live!
Thats one thing I love about Casey. I never thought the show seemed fake or contrived.
Having known a few guys in radio in HS and college, I guess Dees has the syndrome. They tend to make temselves out to be more important than they actually are. Dees does that and its almost embarrassingly obvious; Casey doesnt.
