This is ultimately nerdy. Using Bill Carroll's rankings, here's a side-by-side analysis of 1975 versus 1982. It really makes clear how much the business, and in turn the movement patterns of songs, had changed. Does this mean that, for example, "Turn Your Love Around" would have been #1 in 1975, or that "Fire" would have peaked at only #5 in 1982? Theoretically...
