9-9-86 Hits (ReUp)All I know is this channel has a lot of uploads of old cassette tapes and a few records. Since the tapes only have cryptic labels or none at all, that's all the information provided. It's definitely a country countdown show with an announcer dropping trivia between songs and judging by the date on the label it seems accurate. The tape ends abruptly with a "Weekly Country Music Countdown" jingle but I'm not sure if that's the name of the show or a slogan. I wasn't aware that ACC and Bob Kingsley ever had a competitor, but does anyone recognize the show or host. And are there any complete shows recorded on anything better than a Kmart cassette tape available?

After some digging, here's what I've found: Weekly Country Music Countdown is indeed the name of the show. It was hosted by Chris Charles. It was distributed by (quite possibly originating on) United Stations Radio Networks, then Unistar (after United Stations merged with Transtar), then Westwood One (after WW1 acquired Unistar). A brief thread here points to it existing in the early 80s - would not be surprised if it began at/around the same time as the National Music Survey in 1981. They have plenty of shows floating around out there available for sale. The latest I can see is 2008 - don't know if they continued past there, only that they're (obviously) no longer around today. (Several have the show listed as "Weekly Top 30", but the show appears to have always been a Top 30, and when you check the listing of a Weekly Top 30-labeled show, it shows that it's actually the Weekly Country Music Countdown, so clearly people are using those names interchangeably.) Upon checking multiple charts from multiple different time points, they appear to have used R&R all the way up to when R&R was sold to Billboard in 2006 - after that, I don't know. Checked a chart from 2007 and it didn't match either Billboard or Mediabase. briguy52748, any info you'd be able to fill in that I've missed?
