steaming buffering, dropouts, etc - improve?

Is there any way to improve the buffering on streams? any settings to click or enlarge? I want to prevent dropout and/or rebuffering as much as possible, but its really becoming an issue on longer shows such as AT40.

Any help/advice is appreciated.
