It seems like the most common mistake Casey made was saying that a song climbed XX notches when it really fell that many notches or vice versa. Not sure how much of that was Casey and how much of it was erroneous notes the staff gave him to read in the intro/outcue. In the early years, Casey didn't have cards to read with outros, he just adlibbed something to say--which might have lead to the 'errors' you mention.

Call it a Mark Elliott misstep. This week in 1982 he said John Denver was poet laureate of Colorado because of songs honoring the State like Take Me Home Country Roads.
Of course that was about West Virginia, not Colorado...

And while the Blue Ridge mountains that John mentions in the lyrics of that song are in West Virginia, they are the widest at 70 miles in North Carolina. I escape the NC summer heat many times by going to those mountains.

He should have mentioned "Rocky Mountain High."

I escape the NC summer heat many times by going to those mountains. Makes me want to visit the mountaintops. I'm just a few miles from the mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway myself. Beautiful view from here and up there. Drove on it in late October last year around the fall foliage peak. Love both of those John Denver songs. 🙂

Of course that was about West Virginia, not Colorado... John Denver posthumously got similar recognition from West Virginia in 2014, when “Take Me Home, Country Roads” was named one of WV’s official state songs. I frequently hear it in WV tourism ads on TV.

This week in 1981 Casey said Jim Steinman wrote all the songs on Bat Out Of Hell but he gets to sing on Rock and Rolls Dreams. Of course the singing was actually Rory Dodd.

And it's not even him I would blame. It's the writers of the script Casey is reading.

In a Supersized 76 error, Casey referred to Boz Scaggs as one of the San Francisco groups on the countdown.
