I used to think Casey walked on water. And while I still think the AT40 staff did a great job working with the limitations of the era, as I have relistened to the series, they made a lot of mistakes. For example this week Casey said the guys were climbing but H&O were really dropping with Did It In A Minute. He must have had something on his Mind as the next week he did the very same thing with LRB.
More examples....

One mistake that stands out in my mind is the one on 9/14/85 when Casey said Born in the USA was the second album to produce more than 5 singles after Thriller when it was actually the third one to do so. The second was An Innocent Man. He corrected himself the next week though, fittingly before "You're Only Human".
There of course have been several instances where Casey would correct himself for any errors he made in past shows.

Didn't the soundtrack to "Urban Cowboy" produce six or so singles, or are Movie Soundtracks not eligible?

I don't blame Casey for the errors but the people who wrote his scripts. All he is doing is reading it. I don't think he was much of fan of the majority of what was on the charts so he isn't listening to the music nor knows a lot of the artists.

In his intro of Branigan's How Am I Supposed To Live, Casey placed at #13 (really #19)

He really needed those pictures, and HE WAS SUPPOSED TO SEE THEM THAT WEEK!!!

This week in 1983 Casey said Journey climbed two notches to score their 4th top tenner. But they had already scored as they were moving 8-10

A major muff by CVD guest hosting the 3/29/80 show when he said lead vocals on Set Me Free were by Todd. Of course the singer was really Kasim Sulton.

It seems like the most common mistake Casey made was saying that a song climbed XX notches when it really fell that many notches or vice versa. Not sure how much of that was Casey and how much of it was erroneous notes the staff gave him to read in the intro/outcue.
