I noted that on this week's Billboard Hot 100 chart April 22, 2023....Morgan Wallen holds down the #100 and #1 positions. Which other acts were able to achieve this feat??

I went over literally every Hot 100 chart since its inception in August 1958. I found a baker's dozen instances of this oddity. There are a few significant time gaps, each with an explanation. There were no "bookend" events throughout the '60s and early '70s, mainly because Billboard, like all of the trade magazines, had some sort of early-deletion policy. From 1973-74 into the early '90s, songs were allowed to work their way to the very bottom of the chart before dropping out. (Some, like Shaun Cassidy's version of "Da Doo Ron Ron," which held at #100 for four weeks, really milked it). It wasn't until the mid-to-late '80s, when it seemed that every major album was generating multiple big hit singles, that bookends became a thing. With the methodology overhaul in 1991 came the recurrent rule, which had an effect similar to that of early deletion. Digital downloads started being included in the tabulations around 2005, leading to the perpetual possibility of one artist taking over the chart in a particular week. Here's the complete list... Date | Artist | #100 | #1 | 2/11/84 | Culture Club | "Church of the Poison Mind" | "Karma Chameleon" | 2/6/88 | Tiffany | "I Think We're Alone Now" | "Could've Been" | 1/14/89 | Bobby Brown | "Don't Be Cruel" | "My Prerogative" | 7/1/89 | Milli Vanilli | "Girl You Know It's True" | "Baby Don't Forget My Number" | 9/14/91 | Paula Abdul | "Rush, Rush" | "The Promise of a New Day" | 10/29/05 | Kanye West | "Hear 'Em Say" (w/ Adam Levine) | "Gold Digger" (w/ Jamie Foxx) | 3/1/08 | Flo Rida | "Elevator" (w/ Timbaland) | "Low" (w/ T-Pain) | 1/28/12 | Rihanna | "Talk That Talk" (w/ Jay-Z) | "We Found Love" (w/ Calvin Harris) | 7/21/18 | Drake | "Is There More" | "In My Feelings" | 7/28/18 | Drake | "Talk Up" (w/ Jay-Z) | "In My Feelings" | 8/4/18 | Drake | "Can't Take a Joke" | "In My Feelings" | 11/26/22 | Taylor Swift | "Bigger Than the Whole Sky" | "Anti-Hero" | 4/22/23 | Morgan Wallen | "'98 Braves" | "Last Night" |
