I noticed this official trailer of Sparkle (1976 film starring Irene Cara), and voiced by Casey earlier on TCM. The movie is part of the current month’s salute to the 100th anniversary of Warner Brothers. It airs this coming Friday (April 14) on the channel starting at 09:30 am Eastern as part of the trio of films about the story of the musical bands beginning early in the day. youtu.be/PsKBUPHYsngBut the real musical treat on Warner in TCM won’t be until the end of April (Friday 28th), starting with a little bit of country (“Every Which Way but Loose” and “Honeysuckle Rose”), followed by a little bit of rock’n roll (1981’s “This Is Elvis”, “The Song Remains the Same”, and 1973 docu on “Jimi Hendrix”); then the extended director’s cut of 1970’s “Woodstock”, and going into blaxploitation early Saturday after midnight with 1972’s “Super Fly” with another famous Curtis Mayfield score.

Here's another one to add to your viewing schedule. As part of TCM's tribute to Warner Brothers films, tune in for a late Saturday night/early Sunday morning entry (April 23rd, 12:45am Eastern) starring Gene Hackman and Al Pacino in Scarecrow. Originally released 50 years ago (in April 1973), some may recall the film features a scene where Casey Kasem is heard hosting an AT40 countdown on a radio station in Detroit. Turns out that the countdown recording heard was specially-recorded by Watermark for the movie. A Hollywood moment...not only was it a fictitious radio broadcast (including a song never played on AT40 - Aretha Franklin's "House That Jack Built"), the program did not air on a Detroit radio station at the time. Nevertheless, during the AT40 show dated December 1, 1973 nearly eight months later, Casey answered a sharp-eared listener's question about his 'appearance' in the movie. www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/23027/scarecrow#overview
