On Saturday's front page of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, there was a comparison between the cities of Cleveland and Detroit with baseball and basketball in town. The article compared various forms of entertainment and history. For example, in the catagory of "Biggest Sporting Event in Town" Detroit had the Super Bowl and Cleveland had the Women's Basketball Final Four. Obviously, the edge was given to Detroit. In the catagory of "Heroes' Birthplaces" Detroit had the Lone Ranger and Cleveland had Superman. Edge Cleveland.
In the catagory of "Famous DJs" Detroit had Casey Kasem and Cleveland had Alan Freed. The edge was given to Cleveland!
I am not doubting this, but I am curious what you think! Who would you give the edge to, someone who coined the phrase "Rock 'N' Roll", or someone who made the countdown format very popular? In my opinion, either way you can not lose!
(By the way, the Tigers swept the Indians and the Cavaliers won two in the playoffs against the Pistons to tie the series!)

Great question. I agree with your assessment that either way you can't lose. Both have made incredible contributions to the radio field, and so in a way you really can't compare them.

I wish I had known that was going to be there, I could have had my folks keep the PD from that day.
Another close call, my edge goes to Casey simply because I am a bigger fan. Looking at it completely unbiased, there is no way I could make that call.
Sidebar - I am leaving for a 3 week study abroad trip to Canada in the morning, so I may not be on the boards much over the next few weeks. So have a great start to summer everyone!!
