Soulful crooner Bobby Caldwell passed away March 14 at the age of 71 after a lengthy illness. Best known for his 1978 Top 10 hit "What You Won't Do For Love", he also penned "The Next Time I Fall" for Peter Cetera and Amy Grant in the 80s. He was a co-writer with Boz Scaggs on Boz's comeback Top 40 hit "Heart Of Mine" in the late 80s. His wife Mary posted the following on Instagram: Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. May his fine voice and songwriting live on.
I Googled the medical term "floxed." It's short for "fluoroquinolone toxicity," which means an adverse reaction to certain antibiotics such as Cipro. The effect is so toxic to the body that it can cause extreme fatigue. I suspect that this is what Bobby experienced for those last six-plus years.

Heard about this a couple hours ago when I was listening to the local R&B throwback station and after they played 2 Pac's "Do For Love" which is a cover of the Bobby Caldwell hit, mentioned how he had just passed. |

On Youtube, there are multiple videos of people reacting to "What You Won't Do For Love" surprised because they thought all along that he was Black.
When I first saw the video years ago (maybe on TBS Night Tracks???), my reaction was: Why is he dressed like the stereotypical hobo or tramp?
