Burt Bacharach was certainly a prolific songwriter-Dionne Warwick recorded many of the songs that he & Hal David came up with such as "I Say A Little Prayer","Do You Know The Way To San Jose","Promises Promises" & "I'll Never Fall In Love Again".

Per Wikipedia,the very first song that Burt Bacharach wrote was the theme from a 1958 movie called "The Blob"-It was an instrumental which was also called "The Blob"-The band that recorded it was a group of studio musicians who called themselves The Five Blobs-They took their lone top forty hit to # 33 in the fall of 1958.

What struck me about the Bacharach/David records was the complexity of some of the arrangements. For instance, the chorus of "I Say a Little Prayer" has an 11/8 time signature. The instrumental fadeout of "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" is 18/16 and is played at a much faster tempo than the rest of the song.

Burt Bacharach also wrote songs for the 1972 movie musical "Lost Horizon". I bet not anyone remembers 2 songs from the movie musical "The World is a Circle" and "Question Me an Answer" ("Fourteen hundred ninety-two, what year did Babe Ruth hit his 60th. home run?").

His unpredictable chord and tempo changes had an effect on Carole King in 1962 too. This is her long account in a recent opinion piece:
