I wasn't sure where to drop this thread because I am not sure who was the first to offer it, so I will put it here.
I noticed, I think it was a Dees show in mid-1996, that you could send an email to Rick. I was wondering if any of you knew the first date that CT or Dees mentioned the internet being a part of communication for the program? I also was wondering if Shadoe ever mentioned it as well. I don't remember it and I am assuming that by mid 1994 AT 40 had bigger fish to fry and was not worried about how fans communicated with the show. Plus, mid 1994 would have been really progressive to have the internet as a means of communication. But you never know!
Do you all know the first times top 40 shows actually offered the internet as a means of communication with the shows?

It never happened with Shadoe's AT40, but before his run ended, Shadoe DID have at least one LDD that centered around Internet/computer communication - on 10/22/94, the week's dedication came from someone (who gave only their username) who dedicated to someone she'd fallen in love with BUT had never met in-person, initially meeting through a computer chat room, then later staying in contact in more then-traditional ways (letters and phone). Of this, Shadoe opined, "my friends, you could make this into a movie!" Maybe it's just me but I tend to think he may have been on to something with that.

Had Shadoe AT40 continued another year or two, there could have been an email to send questions and LDD's. Did the AT40 revival in 1998 when Casey returned as host use email for LDD's?

I need to go back to the first episode and check. I know CT did so I would have been surprised if email wasn't used at or near the very beginning of 1998 AT for questions or dedications.

I always found it cool that Dees somehow secured www.rick.com wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back. People want to hate on Rick but kudos because 1) we are now inching up to his 39th anniversary for the same show without any interruptions and 2) he has owned his own first name online since at least, I think, 1995.

Miss hearing that from the AOL 'image voice'.

FYI, Casey gave their email address for R&Ds in the 12/16/95 show I heard the other day.

Not the same thing, but I think Casey first introduced his fax number in 1994.

Currently doing a 1995 CT40 marathon (on 5/20), and Casey has already given an e-mail address for R&Ds. I can't remember exactly what show it was, but I want to say maybe February or March is when it was first mentioned.
