Dan McCafferty passed away November 8 at the age of 76. No cause of death was given, although COPD had caused Dan to retire as lead vocalist of Nazareth in 2013. The Scotsman was a founding member of Nazareth when they formed in 1968. He recorded 23 albums with Nazareth, the last one being "Rock 'N Roll Telephone" in 2014. Though best known in the US for their #8 cover of "Love Hurts" (#15 UK), in the UK the band scored 7 Top 40 hits. They had 2 Top 10 UK hits, "Broken Down Angel" #9 and "Bad Bad Boy" #10 both in 1973. The last surviving member of Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew said of Dan: "Dan died at 12:40 today," he wrote. "This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make. Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time." Dan was preceded in death by lead guitarist Manny Charlton, who passed away last July. Obituary

May Dan McCafferty rest in peace. "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog" are classic rock staples!
