If we can use the number of topics in the various sections on this board as a sign of popularity of the shows, then the results are:
1.) Classic AT40 with Casey and Shadoe (#83) 2.) AT20 with Casey (#80) 3.) AT10 with Casey (#68) 4.) AT40's new incarnation (#67) 5.) WW1 shows with Casey (#8)
( "General Music Discussion" and "Latest News" are excluded as 'Countdown Extras' )
I do think this gives a real overview how important the specific shows really are to the audience on this board. Even I think the look of two sections are a bit different, since AT40 Seacrest benefits alot from the classic AT40 shows and the WW1 section is presented a little under it's real worth.

although if you notice, American Country Countdown has been discuss heatedly over about 4 months of time (the last month it has died down) so ACC gets some honorable mention in there as a show within the topics also.

To tell you the truth: I followed on the topics of the whole ACC/CT40 thing during the past few months. But I never really had a feeling for it why it causes so much attention on some of you out there. The whole country thing is not neccessary a very big part on the pop countdown thing. Also I can't see big relations to what happened with AT40 and Casey in 1988/89. Most ideas are hyptetical and have not really many true facts in it. In other words many speculations about why and what are simply false. The situation in 1989 was a complete different one. And - on a different side of the story - Bob Kingsley never was and never will be a Casey Kasem. And if Kingsley asked for too much money, he has to go. In 88 there was a different situation. There was an offer from a third party, with a concept for the future. A concept ABC has ignored for it's own programmings. A concept wich stands and works until these days. So Casey had no chance but to leave. There is still room for more country countdowns on the market. The format is a big one with relatively few countdown programmes in it. In my eyes it was only a question of time before another show made it's way into the market.

I have always felt Bob Kingsley to be the "country" version of Casey Kasem. Country music fans all over the country know who he is, and he is close to his 30-year mark as counting down the country hits. While Bob Kingsley is not Casey Kasem, once can easily say that Casey Kasem is not Bob Kingsley. Their respective shows do, however, share a similar format and the situation with Bob leaving ACC and starting a new show that directly competes with the show he had hosted for almost three decades does indeed have similiarities to the Casey/Shadoe face-off in 1989.

if you have no interest in country music, no, the story would have no interest to you. But to those of us who do and listen to pop radio in some form as well, for the past several years (this includes going back to when Casey was still hosting AT40 in the late 90s and on) American Country Countdown was THE BEST radio show going. I do not understand how you can NOT see the similarities of Casey Kasem leaving ABC in 1988, and Bob Kingsley leaving ABC in 2005.

There are more country countdowns than any other format by far. Just off the top of my head there's ACC, CT40, Weekly Top 30, Crook & Chase, Foxworthy, Country Countdown USA, Ben & Brian's Big Top 20...and there are atleast a few more I think. if that's "relatively few", I'd hate to see your definition of a lot!

Weekly Top 30? Did you mean "Weekly Country Music Countdown" or is there also a show called "Weekly Top 30."
