I know there's jinx threads for Casey Kasem and Shadoe Stevens, how about starting this thread to think of any Ryan Seacrest AT40 jinxes that had happened since Ryan began hosting AT40 in 2004?

In the 4/27/2024 show Ryan speculated that Beyonce's "Texas Hold 'Em" could become her next #1. This was when it was at #7, where it appears to have peaked in Mediabase and now is losing spins, so it's unlikely to go much if any higher on AT40.

Beyonce holds at #7 this week. But for Teddy Swims strength at #1, every song after that would have been a #1 hit. But Teddy holds off Benson Boone at #2 with the only hit in the top 6 not to reach #1. Ryan says afterward that there is a tight race for the #1 spot between Teddy, Benson and Tate McRae. I'm a big Tate fan but how can she be in contention for the #1 spot next week? "Greedy" is at #6 and several weeks removed from being #1. "Exes" which I would have liked to see threaten the #1 spot, only reached #10 and has dropped all the way to 34. Ryan also said that Teddy Swims will be opening for Aerosmith on their last tour starting this fall. What a contrast that is in how long it took either act to reach #1. 25 years for Aerosmith but just 4 years for Teddy.

Ryan pulled kind of an early to mid 70s Casey this week. Back then he would say 'we are counting down to a new #1', giving away the end of the countdown. Seacrest before playing her first hit in hour 3 said Sabrina Carpenter was still trying to hit. #1 with "Espresso". Then after #5, he said Sabrina had back to back hits coming up. So when "Please Please Please" was played at #3, you knew "Espresso" was not #1 since it had to be #2. So you also knew Billie Eilish held the #1 spot. They have similar voices!

Love that song, "Espresso". Wonder if it will hit #1 again.
Yeah, definitely reminiscent of 1970s Casey. Been listening to late 1990s shows, as some of you may know, and comparing teasers from Casey then and Ryan (after #3 is played), both are different, but seem the same also. Many of Casey's teasers made it at least somewhat obvious, while Ryan outright said the artist, but didn't say whether said artist was at #1. (Obviously, my post only applies if the previous week's #1 didn't fall past #2 or #3, whichever song led off the final segment, which is usually #2). Hopefully that all made sense.

Ryan should revive the predicting the #1 song thing Casey did for AT40 late 1972 to 1973.

No way Seacrest ever does that. This week he said Sabrina Carpenter is up for the new artist Grammy even though she has released 6 albums. They have revamped their eligibility rules to include artists who break through into the public consciousness. Good move there. She is certainly in the running with 3 top 3 hits this year. Almost every decade in AT40 history is represented in some form. The 70s with "Lonely Road" sampling "Take me home country roads", the 80s with "Houdini" sampling "Abracadabra", the 2000s with "A Bar Song" sampling "Tipsy" and the 10s with "Not Like Us" mentioning "God's Plan" and Drake as Eminem also did. Nothing from the 90s as far as I can tell. Did like the new single by an artist who like Eminem got started in the 90s...Gwen Stefani. Liked the only debut "Diet Pepsi" too.
