Radio legend Scott Shannon has announced that he will be stepping down as host of the morning show on New York's WCBS-FM as of December 16th-In 1983,Shannon left a station in Tampa,Florida to oversee the launch of a new top forty station in New Jersey called WHTZ (Z-100)-The station became extremely popular with listeners in the NY metro area-Shannon was both the morning drive host & program director-He left Z-100 in 1989 to work at station KQLZ in Los Angeles-However,he returned to NYC in the spring of 1991 to work at WPLJ which was a CHR (contemporary hit radio) station-Scott added Todd Pettingill as his co-host on PLJ's morning show. In 2014,the aformentioned WCBS-FM hired Scott to be their new morning show host-Even though Scott is leaving CBS-FM,he will continue hosting the syndicated program "America's Greatest Hits" which is heard on hundreds of stations from coast to coast-Good to see that Scott isn't hanging up his microphone just yet.

Scott Shannon also hosted the Rockin' America countdown show during the 1980s. VOCM-FM in St. John's Newfoundland aired the show until 1989, after which it was replaced by the highly successful Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40 - which has had many years of success and still airs to this day - but today, OZ FM airs it.
During his radio career, Scott Shannon helped resurrect singer Charlene's career, and her hit "I've Never Been to Me", which went to #97 in 1977 initially, was re-released in 1982 and went to #3 in June of that year.
