I have heard about a Spanish-language station in LA signing on to become the city's first WT40 affiliate since the show was dropped from KIIS when it moved from Premiere to X Radio.
Supposedly, this will be a customly recorded countdown for the station that will feature Spanish music.
Does anyone know more?

If Kiis dropped it when he switched, did they air the final half of the top 100 of '05. The 2nd half of that show was distributed by the new syndicator.

Do you mean Top 100 of 2004?
Actually, the show was distributed exclusively by Premiere. It aired a week earlier than Casey and Ryan's year-end recaps, with the first installment airing December 17/18 and the second installment airing December 25/26. The first show on X Radio, which was January 1/2, 2005, was a regular Top 40 countdown for CHR and the old Top 30 with extras countdown for Hot AC.

and apparently that is the reason the show was done a week earlier, because of the Premiere situation. I remember asking the board why in the world the show was being done a week earlier, not even thinking about Premiere dropping the show.
So, will Rick be speaking Spanish all show?
I was reading up on some old post on the pulsemusic boards, and I find it rather interesting that Rick's shows as a whole have dropped in quality over the years. The people who listened to his Morning Drive show complained about the same things we were complaining about then and now in regards to the WT40 shows. They aren't funny, unique, and seem slapped together. Its as if Rick has given up and is just along for the ride as long as he can. Which is really sad, the few shows I have heard from the 80's and early to mid 90's had moments that were FUNNY. He just doesn't seem to want to try anymore.
Oh and to answer the KIIS/WT40 question, actually I felt like what KIIS did was wrong. If Rick had to go thats one thing, but over 2004, they pretty much did what we who watch wrestling call jobbed him out. The WT40 was taken off of Saturdays and replaced with AT40, then out of nowhere and for no real good reason they moved the Sunday WT40 to an hour earlier, and of course Rick was out of nowhere removed from the morning show. Just one day became his last with no real warning or anything. Then after the year was over, WT40 was gone and AT40 was back in the WT40's ORIGINAL Sunday timeslot. I know the radio business can get dirty sometimes, but when a guy gives you everything he has for over 20 years at your station, he deserves better than what Rick got.

Agreed. It was obvious KIIS only continued airing WT40 because it was a Premiere program. The day X Radio took it, KIIS was done with it. And I know a few CC stations that still continue to run Dees, so it was their choice. And really, it was only for another airing of AT40.
For years with AT40 and WT40 under Premiere, both shows lived in harmony on many stations. But, as soon as one is pulled from Premiere, it's pulled from so many stations, including the one that Rick gave his heart and soul to. No way I would have EVER pulled WT40 from KIIS.

Sorry... I was thinking of the international version of the show. In Canada stations still got the show from the Premiere ftp site until the end of 2005. The last show to be posted there was the first half of of the Top 100 of '05. The next week we had to go to the new site. I was forgetting that things changed in the U.S. sooner than everywhere else. No biggie Although I always did think it was rather strange that Rick left Premiere....yet still continued to use their office space and studio, as well as using them to distribute his show internationally for an entire extra year.

I spoke with someone from X radio recently (no, I'm not going to name names or say where I saw this person) who told me that the intent is to eventually syndicate the "Spanglish" Dees show. Did anyone get to hear it, by the way?
Also, this same X radio person told me that Dees' show has never really recovered from all of the CC stations dropping it. Telling? I'm not sure, but it's interesting to hear that.

It's interesting that the show has not recovered, yet I feel that aside from the Top 100 of 2005, the show sounds better than it has in a long while.

From what I've heard, X Radio is stopping delivery of the show via cd after this month, making it internet only delivery. Perhaps this was done as a cost-cutting procedure.

When you say "recovered" do you mean the show hasn;t financially recovered and is bordering on or is in the red, or do you mean he hasn't mentally recovered.

I mean the number of affiliates has not recovered to near the level it was in the CC/Premiere era.

no, and it probably never will domestically. Same would happen if AT40 left Premiere. Even though it is probably going to be kept my many stations, several are playing it probably because they are forced to.

Sadly, I believe this is the case with ALL Premiere programming. It is far from coincidence that nearly every CC Hot AC station plays AT20 and Backtrax USA....every CHR station plays AT40 (and used to play WT40)....and AC station plays AT10 and Delilah.

Our local CC Owned CHR station doesn't air either one, but I know they are few and far between. I agree with you completely. I only used AT40 as my example because for years WT40/AT40 have been joined at the hip in comparison.
