Some of us oldsters will enjoy two new cd's that will be out in March... Donald f*gen (Steely Dan) will release "Morph The Cat", his solo project, and Chicago will release XXX. Many years ago Chicago did an album called "Stone of Sisyphus" that the record company hated and refused to release. I happened upon one of the "underground" copies and it is not bad. f*gen's "The Nightfly" (1982) solo and Chicago's first lp, "Chicago Transit Authority" are on my list of the few albums I would take to a deserted island. However, have you ever noticed that folks say you can only take 10 or 12 albums to a deserted island. Wonder why? I would really like to take 17 or 18... Carry on.

Of course, you meant to say "Donald Homosexualen". (Sorry, just have to make fun of the board's censorship feature.) Thanks for the update, good to hear they're still cranking out the tunes.

Thanks Mstgator, I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't spell out Donald's "offending" name...

Old fart that I am, I've already pre-ordered Chicago XXX from Amazon, and I actually downloaded my first single from i-tunes, their new single "Free".

Although it has been out for a while now, fans of the 80's hit "Our House" by Madness will definately want to check out their new CD "The Dangermen Session Volume 1". It's got some good covers, including an outstanding cover of "Lola" by The Kinks. We've got it at our college station, and I usually play something from it every week on my show. My favorites are the Lola cover and "Girl, Why Don't You".
Shortly after we got it at the station, Charlie Tuna mentioned it on AT20 when he was introing "Our House" as an extra.

I'm a HUGE fan of Chicago (probably to me the music group equivalent of Casey Kasem) and am VERY excited about the idea of a new album from them...they'd talked about it for years at their concerts, but I was honestly starting to think that they were blowing smoke at us. I didn't pre-order the CD from Amazon, though, as I'll want to have it in hand on 3/21, when it comes out. So I'll go to the local CD store and buy it in person that day.

Going through this weeks R&R "Hot AC Going for Adds" I discovered a song by The (New) Cars called Not Tonight... The band name caught my attention, so I googled the net for this song and the band, and I disovered @ www.thenewcars.com that The New Cars are refurbished The Cars w/ Todd Rundgren! The Cars was my favorite band of the early 80's, so this was really a nice(!) surprise... I saw the video for the song as well - and it sounds just like the old The Cars, so I am definitly having the record when it comes out in May!!!

VH-1 Classic has been playing the New Cars video and hyping the Road Rage 2006 Tour with Blondie as opening act. My sisters and I are planning to see them when they come to Hollywood Fl in June. Also gonna see Chicago and Huey Lewis when they tour together this summer! And we're seeing the Go-Go's on April 3rd!!
Yes, I'm old.

So I guess VH1 Classic is now going to start sucking by showing new videos?

They'll play new videos by "Classic" artists, especially when those artists come on the channel to hype their latest projects. They also show new videos on their "Classic/Current" show. The channel started sucking when they started showing regular (non-VH1) commercials, and when they started playing '90's videos a few months back.

Got both cds (hhmm, no 8 tracks on the store shelves...)...I have found Donald FFFaagggeeennn's new album easier to catch onto early on, the Chicago is going to take a little time to get used to. The latter cuts on the cd seem to be the best...

Got the new Chicago XXX CD in the mail yesterday and listened to it most of last night. The production is great. Little ballad-heavy for my taste. I like the uptempo stuff better. And the CD packaging is awesome. Rhino does a great job with just about everything I've seen them release.

I wish everyone was as Original as Chicago and named their albums by the numbers. That would be so easy to remember.

Maybe I'm getting old... I am still trying to get used to Chicago XXX, so far, "90 Degrees and Freezing", "Come to Me, Do", "Where Were You", "Already Gone", "Lovin' Chains","Better", and both versions of "Feel" are good. None really jump out at me, I like them. NOW, on the other hand, Donald Faaagggeeennn's "Morph The Cat" features a tune that caught me from the first play, "H Gang"...sounds like his old stuff with overdubbed Donald on the chorus. "What I Do" (a conversation with Ray Charles), "Great Pagoda of Fun", and "Morph the Cat" are also pretty good. The rest of the tunes aren't bad, but it is not "The Nightfly"...

Chicago XXX is an amazing album. A little something for everyone...all of it pure Chicago. Go out and pick up a copy...I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
