Heart failure took the life of Jim Post on September 14 at the age of 82. He had been in hospice care in Dubuque, Iowa. During the sixties he performed with his then-wife Cathy as the duo Friend and Lover. Produced by Joe South and Bill Lowry, their hit "Reach Out Of The Darkness" would peak at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968. The follow-up "If Love Is In Your Heart" had a brief stay on the charts. Jim was a mainstay on the Chicago folk scene during the 70s and 80s, working with Bonnie Koloc, John Prine, and Steve Goodman. Jim later relocated to Galena, Illinois with his second wife Janet. Among Jim's other accomplishments were touring the US and Canada performing one man shows as Mark Twain, and releasing a children's album. Obituary
