Ramsey Lewis passed away September 12 at the age of 87. No cause of death was given. A three time Grammy award winner, the jazz legend founded the Ramsey Lewis Trio in 1953. Between the trio's and solo projects, Ramsey would chart 17 times on the Hot 100. Four would reach the Top 40, with "The In Crowd" being his only Top 10 single peaking at #5. The keyboardist was a true Chicago icon. He served for 25 years as artistic director of jazz at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL. He was an on-air personality in Chicago hosting his own morning show and a weekly jazz icons show through the years. The single "The In Crowd" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He received an NEA Jazz Master award in 2007. He is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Denise and Dawn, sons Kendall, Frayne and Bobby, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons Ramsey III and Kevyn Obituary
