Legendary Crickets' drummer Jerry Allison passed away August 22 at the age of 82. He would have celebrated his 83rd birthday August 31. Besides co-writing "That'll Be the Day" and "Peggy Sue" with Buddy Holly, Jerry would play on all 13 of the Crickets' albums released after Holly death. Jerry would reach the Hot 100, peaking at #68 with "Real Wild Child" using the name Ivan. He was a co-writer with Sonny Curtis of "More Than I Can Say" which would become a #2 hit when covered by Leo Sayer. The Crickets were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Obituary

"Peggy Sue" was supposedly written about Jerry Allison's girlfriend-Sorry to hear about his passing. Yes. It was going to be "Cindy Lou" after Buddy Holly's niece before the title change. Of course, if you're a fan of the TV series "Quantum Leap", it was going to be "Piggy Suey"! Quantum Leap
