Complications from surgery took the life of William 'Poogie' Hart on July 14 at the age of 77. As lead singer of the Delfonics, William 'Poogie' Hart's tenor helped define Philly Soul, aka the Sound Of Philadelphia. Featuring production from Thom Bell, classics like "La-La Means I Love You" and the Grammy winning "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)", helped shape the sound that would bring the careers of the Stylistics, O'Jays and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes to the national level. It also provided a new chapter for the careers of Lou Rawls, The Intruders, and The Three Degrees. These Philadelphia International artists were produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who often collaborated with Thom Bell. The Delfonics would chart 16 times in the Hot 100. Six of these singles would reach the Top 40. The aforementioned "La-La Means I Love You" (#4) and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)" (#10) were their Top 10 hits. Obituary
