Chicago area legend Cliff Johnson passed away July 17 at the age of 70.
Cliff made a dent nationally in 1980 fronting the band Off Broadway. Their "On" album sold 200,000 copies and peaked at #101 on the Billboard chart, while the single "Stay In Time" would peak at #51 during the spring that year.
Prior to Off Broadway, he fronted another legendary local band Pezband.
I had the pleasure of seeing Cliff at a small venue. He was a true showman, with a great sense of humor, good vocals and electric stage presence.
He will be missed.
If you bought the 45 "Stay In Time", the "B" side is a true classic that will rock your socks off.
