This is my attempt to fill a void in the chart hound world. The one trade magazine that didn't compile official year-end lists was Music Vendor / Record World. In later years up to its demise in 1982, it would feature a rough breakdown of top songs, albums, and artists, categorized by genre. But it would wait until spring time to publish these lists, and the rankings were sketchy at best.
As always when doing composite charts, I used the point scale devised by Dann Isbell and Bill Carroll for the book Ranking the '70s. Here's 1970.

I think maybe he's not done compiling the lists, and wanted to get the top 40 out there with another big hit or two, to maybe lessen the curiosity for those wondering where it landed. I have a feeling more is to come with just those two years as well as all the other years yet to be posted. Looking forward to all these. 🙂
ETA: Love "Get Ready". I'm sure it'll land in the year-end list somewhere.

Record World never listed a full year end chart at the end of the year but did generally list a top record, in addition to lots of other awards, top performers in different categories.

My first reaction when I saw that "we've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters was #3 for 1970 was surprise that it beat out "Close to You" that year. And then I noticed that "Close to You" wasn't even in the Top 48. "Close to You" was #1 the first 2 weeks of August in Record World's weekly charts.
Correction: "(They Long to Be) Close to You" is at #22.

Here's 1973.
In September, there was a major re-design of RW's charts (much like the one that Billboard underwent about six months earlier). Along with it came an apparent change in their methodology. In place of the early deletion practice that had been so common for so long, songs began to linger in the lower reaches for many weeks before finally dropping out. My educated guess is that radio airplay became a much greater factor. And accordingly, songs that peaked from September on accumulated more points towards these rankings. Six of the top ten overall are from that period.

OK, Pete and OWTC. Just because you're two of my favorite Forum members... "Get Ready" peaked at #3 in Record World and stayed in their top 100 for 19 weeks, a long time by 1970 standards. But only eight of those weeks were in the top 20 and two were in the top five. So it came in at #59 for the year, racking up 2423 points. Dann and Bill's formula emphasizes and rewards performance more so than longevity. If you were to take the point values for each weekly chart position and plot them on a graph, they would form something close to a parabolic curve. ("My Sweet Lord" spent only 15 weeks on, but 11 in the top 20 and nine in the top five.) Most attempts at a composite ranking of records involve a simple reverse-rank pattern, which plots out as a diagonal line. This method produces a ranking that is heavily skewed towards records with longer chart runs regardless of their peak. (I ran "Get Ready" and "My Sweet Lord" through reverse-rank, and the former outscored the latter, 1314 to 1262!)
