I have been listening to the American Top 40 show from May 7, 1977 throughout this weekend, and there were 13 No. 1 hits on that show that week. Is that a record for most No. 1 hits on AT40.

I dont know if it is a record or not, but that's a stat alone that will never EVER be repeated whether it was or not.

Having 13 #1 records in one countdown is extraordinary -- that's 1/3 of a 3-hour program! In reviewing random charts from 1974 and 1975, the most #1 songs I found in a regular AT40 show was 12 -- August 17, 1974.
Here's another interesting fact -- the Hot 100 from March 2, 1974 identified 12 gold singles in the Top 40.

I don't have the Bb chart in front of me, but I seem to recall the 1/11/75 show also having 13 #1's as well. Now the very next week was the start of an 11 or 12 week run that saw a new #1 song each week (an Elton John song was at the top just before the streak began 'Lucy In The Sky...' and just after it ended 'Phila. Freedom'). If there was another week that had as many or more #1's in one countdown it was probably during that stretch in early '75.
