Brothers Jimmy & Syl Johnson have passed away within days of each other.
Jimmy passed away January 31 at the age of 93 and Syl's death was announced February 6. He was 85.
Both were Chicago blues and soul legends. Jimmy is a member of the Blues Hall of Fame, and Syl's 1967 Top 20 R & B hit "Different Strokes" has been sampled extensively by Hip-Hop artists (Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Kanye West/Jay Z, and Eric B & Rakim).
Cyl did have a #7 R&B hit (#49 Hot 100) with a cover of label mate Al Green's "Take Me To The River" in 1975.
