I am currently listening to the Hot AC version of Dees' Top 100 of 2005, and it is AWFUL.
Dees is hardly on the show at all!! He intros and outros each show segment, but has yet to mention a single song title/artist. Occasionally he will come on and say we are at number XX. But primarily it is just jingles and such...but the jingles are just WT40 jingles, they don't even give the chart positions! (they are, however, custom Top 100 of 2005 jingles which do sound good, i'll give them credit)
Dees has yet to mention a single song title though, and we are into the 70's!! And he has maybe only talked 5 times!! Either he really didn't care about his year-end shows this year, or they just did a CHR show and engineers threw together the Hot AC show.

Yeah, that sounds like pretty typical Dees. I saw the chart posted on another site too, and there's like songs from 2003 on there, it's pretty whacked.

Yeah there are some oldies on there. Wow. Rick actually just made an apperance on his show...he said two words. "Number Seventy-Five" (hey you could technically call that 3 words!!)

I wonder how much effort he puts into that show anymore.

I wonder how much effort he puts into that show anymore. The Hot AC show or the countdown all together? I must give the man credit, however. He was kind enough, and his contract restrictions allowed him to record liners for my college radio show, and they are downright AWESOME!!!! Emails to Casey and Backtrax USA host Kid Kelly came back with responses that they were unable to do to the fact that their respective shows were not on our station. However, Dees was able to do them since there is not a station in our nearby area running WT40. So, I will ALWAYS give him credit for that. We just got back from dinner out and I turned WT40's Top 100 back on....still NO Dees. It's like listening to a regular station's automated playlist with Dees jingles between the songs. Anyone know if the CHR show is like this as well? I thought Rick's move to X Radio improved his shows, despite the fact that he no longer uses R&R charts. I was expecting a decent Top 100 show, even for Hot AC

Honestly, now that I realized you were talking HAC; duh now I feel stupid. No, his CHR show is probably NOT like this. His HAC show always sounds like a thrown together jumbled mess from previous shows and that weeks CHR show.

I still have it on (will leave it on 'til 10 when Dick Clark comes on) and i'd say 95% of the "bits" are reruns...the other 5% being the countdown challenge .

I have to say Dees' Hot AC year-end is the worst top 100 special I've ever heard. Like as has been stated above, he hardly makes any appearances, and those appearances sound like recycled bits. In the middle of the intro to "Collide", Rick suddenly says "Lucky number 7", and it just sounds like that bit of speech was cut and pasted there. Also, I heard a rap song played near the top 10. Since the songs aren't numbered I can't really tell, but I believe that this was an "optional extra". Apparently they included a CHR sounding extra instead of a Hot AC one. (This has happened before).

2 things:
1) Dees' optional extras are always the same for both shows...usually it's a song that fits both, but sometimes not.
2) On my way into work tonight (I love board-oping...getting paid to surf the net and listen to music for 6 hours) a station was playing the CHR version of the Dees Top 100....it is THE SAME. Not in terms of music, but in terms of style. It's the same show as the Hot AC, except different music has been inserted. I wonder if something happened that made them do the shows this way.......

Why doesnt your station run Dees's show Brett? He was nice enough to do some voice tracks for you guys.

We're a non-commercial station, and therefore we can not run commercial syndicated program. Plus, during 90% of the dayparts we are a wacko Alternative/Modern Rock, only can be described as "College" format that Dees wouldn't fit. I inquired both with my PD and with Dees, and basically the message from Dees was to simply enjoy the liners - they were something he enjoyed doing for a college station.

Yes the CHR version is the exact same thing. I recorded the CHR version and was shocked to barely even hear Dees, and since the CHR chart contains so much rap, I dont even know what half the songs are, and w/ no intro to them, or # position, I guess I'll never know. I wonder if I captured the chart from the web? I might of, and tried to follow along but easily got lost. It sounded to me like Dees was on vacation, so he just duped a couple segments for the show and left town, left the engineers to basically create the show from scratch. I'm guessing 1 reason they did this was so that virtually every song could air. usually they skip at least 20 songs.

I sure hope Dees will be actually 'present & accountable', at this years end of the year countdown. I really don't want to hear another pieced 2gether show like last year. The only nice thing I can say about last yrs show was that they played all the songs.
