After a brief battle with cancer, Ronnie Spector has passed away today January 12 at the age of 78. Family Statement on the Passing of Ronnie Spector:Our beloved earth angel, Ronnie, peacefully left this world today after a brief battle with cancer. She was with family and in the arms of her husband, Jonathan. Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude. Her joyful sound, playful nature and magical presence will live on in all who knew, heard or saw her. In lieu of flowers, Ronnie requested that donations be made to your local women’s shelter or to the American Indian College Fund. A celebration of Ronnie’s life and music will be announced in the future. The family respectfully asks for privacy at this time. Obituary

I had just turned on NBC Nightly News over an hour ago & saw that Ronnie Spector had passed away-Ronnie was hands down one of the greatest female voices of the rock era-"Be My Baby" was my favorite of their many hits-Love the way it starts off with that great drum introduction by Hal Blaine-I tend to think that Billy Joel's 1981 hit "Say Goodbye To hollywood" was an homage of sorts to the late producer Phil Spector & his legendary "Wall Of Sound"-Ronnie,thanks for the memories!

Ronnie Spector famously covered "Say Goodbye To Hollywood" backed by the E Street Band. They did show that clip during the piece, as a Billy Joel fan I really don't care for it. "Be My Baby" was famously or infamously used on Moonlightning when David Addison and Maddie Hayes had sex, I'd seen this first run back in late March 1987. I've always liked her with The Ronettes, then Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight" from 1986! May Ronnie Spector RIP.
