Story HERE. One of the early pioneers of electronic dance music, Andrew Barker of the UK group 808 State, has died Saturday after being ill for a short time. The group was formed in 1987 which was during a time when electronic dance music was not as broadly known, and helped pave the way for other electronic dance acts such as Robert Miles (who had an entry on CT40 with the instrumental hit "Children"). Electronic dance music would be at its peak in popularity during the mid-1990s through around 2002, after which pop, rap and hip-hop strengthened in popularity. Of course, 808 State never had any entries on AT40, but I wonder if they had any entries on the Billboard Dance Chart?

A quick trip to billboard.com revealed...
They reached the Dance Singles Sales chart five times, the last with "Timebomb" in 1992...
...and they hit the Dance Club Songs chart nine times, the last with "Cubik:98" in 1998 which peaked at #3.
