I know of two national radio shows for Christmas, both are country. Bob Kingsley's Christmas in America, and Christmas on Music Row. Are there any others that are aired in some form on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Rick Dees usually does a Christmas special.

They aired it a couple years ago here on Christmas Day. I don't think it is issued as a regular show...it's just there and stations can decide to air it or not. It was a Top 100 or Top 50 or something, but I listened for about 45 minutes on and off and did not know a single song!!

I haven't heard the Dees Christmas show in a couple of years, but it used to be a fairly contemporary sounding mix of Christmas hits. No countdown, just Rick "playing" the tunes.

Rick didn't do a Christmas show last year (I know that for a fact, since a radio DJ that I regularly chat with said so). Instead, the radio station that I listen to that played Dees show played his Top 100 of 2004 countdown over and over during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

I don't when Dees started a Christmas special. However, I have each one dating back to '96. I might even have '95 somewhere in pile. Each show was four hours except in 1999 which was only one hour. Some bits are recylced from year to year & he always closes with Carol of the Bells by David Foster. My favorite is the "erase-problem" timeline with his son Kevin. In 2004, he did not produce a Christmas special & no word on '05 yet.
