Complications from Parkinson's disease has taken the life of Tommy West at the age of 78. He died on May 2. In the early 60s Tommy recruited Jim Croce for his folk group while at Villanova University. He eventually landed a job at Capitol Records and began collaborating with Terry Cashman. Together they co-produced three of Jim Croce's best selling albums "You Don't Mess Around With Jim", "Life And Times", and the posthumous "I Got A Name". Tommy was no stranger to the Top 40. With Terry Cashman and close friend Gene Pistilli, they would chart as the Buchanan Brothers, reaching #22 in 1969 with "Medicine Man (Part 1)". Late in 1972 Cashman & West would peak at #27 with "American City Suite". In the mid-seventies Tommy and Terry formed Lifesong Records. In addition to releasing some of Jim Croce's early and session recordings, they hit the Top 10 producing "Shannon" for Henry Gross on the Lifesong label. Other Top 40 Lifesong singles include the follow-up to "Shannon", "Springtime Mama" and Dean Friedman's "Ariel". Terry Cashman also released a series of "Talkin' Baseball" singles, one for every Major League Baseball team. Tommy West is survived by his wife, daughter and 3 grandchildren. Obituary

Now only Cashman remains. Pistilli, original member of Manhattan Transfer, passed in December 2017.
