Yesterday, IT started on XM's 90's station. One of the first songs played (within the first hour or so I mean) was "I Remember You" by Skid Row. I don't know why, but while I was laying there listening, I all of a sudden remembered back when I delivered pizzas in 1996. The workers listened to WJRR our of Orlando, a rock station. Everyday they did a Top 5@5 like CHR's do. However, there were enough Smart Alleck's living in Orlando and the surrounding area that when voting would open up, they would call and vote for "18 and Life" to be on the countdown. It would vary everyday in what number it would be. Sometimes it was #1! When I heard "I Remember You" yesterday I just cracked up remembering how O-town kept their other 1989 hit on the chart for about 8 years nonstop as a running gag! ;D
Anyone else have any local funny radio memories like this?

Great story, and something that would most likely not happen today. With radio playlists tighter and tighter, my guess is most stations who do things like Top 5 at 5 or Most Requested At Night (not Carson Daly) simply pre-determine the playlist ahead of time and the votes are meaningless, which is kind of sad. But at the same time, it does show how times have changed.
