Check out this in this YouTube video montage of May 1978 TV commercials and local news from a local San Francisco independent (pre FOX Network) TV station! At the 2:07 mark is a 1978 political ad for Mike Curb (music producer, of course) for California governor featuring Casey Kasem voiceover - I wonder if Casey ever did a story in a 1978 AT40 show about Mike Curb running for California governor:

The Billboard issue that includes this week's Premiere AT40 (March 5, 1977), has a special section saluting Curb with a full page ad signed by Casey Kasem saying "Mike: Your 33's and 45's have all been really great, But we all know your biggest hit will be in '78." Not explicitly political, but maybe that's what Casey was alluding to?
