I am now listening to the AT20 Top 20 Christmas Countdown from 2003 on WXXM Rewind 92.1 on November 21, 2020 in the AT40: The 70's slot. Things to know:
* It brings me back memories when WLIT 93.9 Chicago used to air AT20 AC on Saturday nights (later replaced a year later by AT10 AC before WLIT dropped it in 2005).
* The intro with Larry Morgan used a drum roll used before the #1 song was played?
* Before the first song #30 "Sleigh Ride" was played, there was the music you hear on CBS News Sunday Morning (originally hosted by Charles Kuralt, then Charles Osgood, and now Jane Pauley).
* Casey was still doing the main AT40 at the time before being replaced a month later in January 2004 by Ryan Seacrest (Casey would still host AT10 AC/AT20 Hot AC until 2009).
* I didn't mind a version of the #28 "Frosty the Snowman" song done by now 2 deceased New Orleans singers - Leon Redbone and Dr. John.
* "Please Come Home For Christmas" (#25 - Eagles version) is a song dealing with longing?
* Casey told the origins of tinsel on Christmas trees - originally done by spiderwebs? Call it a legend, not a Spider-Man inspiration.
* #24 - "We Need a Little Christmas" (Percy Faith version, you should hear Angelica Landsbury's version and/or Lucille Ball's version somewhere...) - Casey mentioned it's from the musical "Auntie Mame" - It's just "Mame", Casey.
* #23 - "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid - Casey added the subtitle - "Feed the World".
* Casey told the story of the Christmas card that it was almost banned - And this is long before the Christmas e-card.
* Casey told the story of the first Christmas tree - inspired by the oak tree?
* Another Casey story was on the origins of Silent Night (with Aaron Neville's version played).
* There was also a story Casey told about why people kiss under the mistletoe and how it started (Ties in to "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" by Jimmy Boyd, I guess).
* I am surprised the Bing Crosby/David Bowie "Little Drummer Boy (Peace on Earth)" version made the 2003 AT20 Christmas countdown!
* To tie in with "Ruldoph the Red Nosed Reindeer", Casey mentioned the original names were Rolo and Reginald originally.
* For the #7 "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" (Johnny Mathis version), Casey mentioned it was written by Meredith Wilson, who also wrote the Broadway musical "The Music Man" (A planned "The Music Man" Broadway revival was planned to launch this 2020 year on Broadway with Hugh Jackman, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down Broadway theatres until mid 2021, the "Music Man" Broadway revival is now set to open December 2021).
* Yet another Casey origin story: On the origin of the Christmas stocking - they started with wooden shoes?
* And for the #1 2003 AT20 Christmas song "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole, Casey mentioned it was written in Palm Springs, California!
