Today I was driving around doing my job and was listening to the Christian music show "Heart of Worship," I hadn't heard it in awhile so it was pretty eye opening when I realized THEY were playing the one extra song per hour segment also. I guess Clear Channel is even more far reaching....so, when does American Country Countdown join this method, or are they already?
I don't exactly know why I thought of this today, but Sunlite Musics website now offers downloads in mp3 of "Southern Gospel USA" and "Gospel Greats" for a $4.95 monthly fee, so it got me to thinking about how popular "podcasting" has become. Both of these are radio shows, and in addition Rush Limbaugh and Jim Rome now both offer their shows as podcasts with subscriptions to their repective websites. Maybe we aren't too far off from the day of American Top 40, 20, 10, Backtrax USA, and American Country Countdown being offered this way for a monthly fee.
The US Supreme Court ruled yesterday that it is ok for music labels to sue makers of file sharing software and do so with the intentions of letting you share copyrighted material. I think this was a common sense ruling, only concern I have is common sense and court rulings don't seem to go hand in hand anymore(see: Property Rights ruling). I could see AOL losing a case over AOL Instant Messenger or something like that.
