re-read the book, you are stating the exact opposite of what his book says. Market Exclusivity existed in the WW1 days, when Casey signed with AM/FM, market exclusivity ended.

One of my local CHR/Pop stations began airing AT40 as soon as Ryan Seacrest took over as host. The PD told me via e-mail that they weren't allowed to air the show previously because another station in the same market carried Casey's AT20.

I cant vouch for what happened with Premiere, but I know what I read in Rob Durkee's book and it was written that there was market exclusivity with WW1, but with AM/FM there was not.

I know of several markets that aired Casey's AT40 and one of the AC shows at the same time. Although I don't know of any markets that now run both AT20 and AT10, although I think they would be allowed.

Here in Tampa, AT40 aired on 93.3 and AT20 (Hot AC) aired on 100.7 (this was in the AM/FM days).

I have written the book more than once, believe me. But that doesn't keep me away from doing my own research and/or making me blind for more recent facts around the shows. As I've mentioned before, WW1 gave market exclusivity to SOME markets, NOT to all. Premiere generally does give market exclusivity to their programmes, especially to Casey's. If there was some special situation in Tampa, you may found out WHY this has happen. I don't know the market of Tampa in detail.

Although I don't know of any markets that now run both AT20 and AT10, although I think they would be allowed. Like for instance B104 in Allentown PA has done and still does. They have AT40 and AT20 on the SAME station. Eventually there were also agreements between friendly rival stations in some markets. But the situation is clear, since they had that selling problem to more stations, while one of Casey's shows was on air somewhere.

Exactly that's what happened with many stations in many markets. They wanted to air one of the shows, but couldn't do it, since a rival has another format of the show on air.

So basically, if 2 stations in the same market want/wanted to carry different formats of a Casey Kasem countdown, they needed to be owned by the same company. Meaning if a Clear Channel cluster wanted AT20 for the market's Hot AC station and AT40 for the market's CHR station, that was fine. But if Clear Channel ran AT40 and an Infinity or Cumulus or Cox Hot AC wanted AT20, they would be denied it.
My guess is very few CC stations would be denied a Premiere show.
