From allaccess.com:
AMERICAN IDOL judge RANDY JACKSON is launching a syndicated Top 30 Countdown Show, RANDY JACKSON'S HIT LIST, to be syndicated by WESTWOOD ONE. "I've been in the music business my entire life and recognize there's no better way to reach the music listener than through radio," said JACKSON, a GRAMMY Award -winning producer and a 20-year music industry veteran who served as VP/A&R at COLUMBIA and SVP/A&R at MCA before becoming "Idolized."
I guess it took them 7 years to find the right person ;D

And every week, he can play an extra by an artist he claims to have worked with... he'll never run out of songs!

Having never watched American Idol, I really can't judge. As with Ryan...I never knew much about him until he began guest hosting AT40 and AT20 in 2003. And even now, when most people hear the name Ryan Seacrest they think American Idol while I think American Top 40.
I remember Randy guest hosted on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 a long while back, and except for the overuse of "'sup dawg" I remember thinking the show was fairly entertaining.
I hope Randy's shows do well....although i hope his Hot AC show does not take away affiliates of American Top 20. But since WW1 is affiliated with Infinity, I doubt any CC stations would pick it up in favor of a Premiere show.

so do I, I wonder if Infinity stations will now be forced to carry that show? If so, it will probably be on it's way to Orlando.

I could see Infinity stations having to run the show. Although I don't know of many Infinity stations that run Casey. It's really those small market or independent stations that run Casey (such as Forever Broadcasting's Hot AC station in my college town of Meadville) that really can add or drop shows at their own discretion, and could decide at some point to swap Casey for another countdown show.

the station here I am referring to doesnt air Caseys show. A CC owned AC station airs his American Top 10, but AT20 doesn't air here. The infinity station plays Backtrax USA 90's....nd I hope it doesnt dissappear if they have to start airing Jacksons show.

As you may know, Casey has market exclusivity for his shows, since they were reborn in 1998 at AMFM and later on with Premiere. That's also one reason why the current number of AT40 affiliates doesn't mean that much as many people think about.

Probably in the same way - more or less - as Premiere/CC does it with their own programmings on Clear Channel stations. And probably a question of the individual power a local PD has against his network ........

If a station wants to carry AT10 and another AT20 within the same market, that is fine. The market exclusivity ENDED when he signed with AM/FM. My source for this is Rob Durkee's book.

The market exclusivity STARTED when he signed with AM/FM in 1998; Westwood One did this only in some markets; Casey had around 350 (!!!) stations for his 3 shows at WW1;
More recently, there was a marketing problem, as long as he did all 3 shows for Premiere, before AT40 was given away. One of the reasons for what became in 2003. There is no market with both AT10 and AT20 on air, but lot's of small markets with one of the shows.
