COVID19 has claimed another victim. Alan Merrill, lead singer of the Arrows, passed away March 29 at the age of 69. In the early 70s, Alan was the first foreign pop star in Japan. He left Japan in 1974 to form the Arrows. The band would have Top 10 UK success later that year with "Touch Too Much". It was the early 80s when America would become familiar with Alan's music. A cover of a song he co-wrote and originally recorded would become a #1 hit in 1982, topping the Hot 100 for 7 weeks. It would be inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2016. Here's the original: I Love Rock N Roll - ArrowsObituary

I just listened to this week's edition of "The Dr.Demento Show"-He played Alan's original version of "I Love Rock & Roll"-It was equally as good as Joan Jett's.

As a kid i remember watching the Arrows TV show ,they were quite big in the uk for a while in the mid 70s(they took over the slot from the bay city rollers shang-a-Lang show ) they had some great songs , a touch too much is a great bit of glam rock
