Today is the 10 year anniversary of the date of what was thought to be the last AT40. For Shadoe it was.
Rob's book discusses in detail why the show ended at the time. If any of you haven't gotten "Countdown of the Century", I would strongly suggest that you do.
However I can't help but wondering how Casey may have felt at the time given the way the company treated him at that time and whether he had any idea of trying to revive AT40 as early as 1995.
Shadoe, who hosted AT40 at that time, has moved on and is hosting radio programs as well.
Any comments on that final AT40?
John

Just based on the book, he couldnt have had any solid ideas because ABC still had the rights to the show and I am sure he didnt think ABC would let them go. All it would have taken is a some leadership and direction and the show could have revived by ABC and successful.

I'll never forget the top 10 of that show beginning with a #17 jingle...

I received and heard the show about this time last year and I forgot how good the music from early 1995 was. A lot of Alternative Rock on it, which at the time I hated (because that's what all they listened to where I worked), but, in retrospect, was actually pretty good. Had I known that Top 40 would be infested with rap less than ten years later, I wouldn't have complained as much about how sucky Alternative music was, because, comparitively, it really isn't. It was cool to hear "Into The Groove" by Madonna for the first time on AT40 ever. The song peaked at #6 on R&R, but, due to Billboard's abitrary singles rule, the song wasn't eligible to chart on the Hot 100.

Honestly, I started disliking the pop chart in 1994. I dont miss any of the days since. I really think it was "Mr. Jones" that I first just hated, and that was right around the time they switched formulas or something so all of a sudden songs(like that one) were on the chart for 8 or 9 months. I didnt understand method changes or computerized readings in 1994, so all I knew was it felt like a total of 75 songs released that first year, 1994 . I had just moved to an area(where I am now again, Orlando) that was still airing AT40 so I wasn't familiar with the fact that their chart was the same way CT40 became the following year. Off the subject...14-10 at the half. I feel it! My boys are only down 4! My Falcons are headed to the big dance....in my hometown!!!! I wish I had tickets, but I don't have $2,000 for a ticket
