I turned on the radio on my way home from college and heard a fascinating segment/tribute to the precursor to the modern countdown show, known as "Your Hit Parade". I especially found the parts of how they compiled the charts fascinating and the underlying trends in music that caused YHP to fall out of dominance and into oblivion. Kind of like what happened to AT40 in the '90s, though I'd argue that AT40 was more mismanaged than anything else. They do have an archive of the show on their website, and I highly recommend listening to it! It's very interesting and informative.
