With Mabel, daughter of Neneh Cherry and niece of Eagle Eye Cherry, hitting AT 40 last week how many other family connections have hit the top 40 from different generations? For example: The Jackson, Debarge, or Jonas families wouldn't count. A few come to mind for me would be like Whitney Houston and Dionne Warwick, and Neil and Dara Sadaka. In all honesty not too many are coming to my head.
One interesting one: Tito Jackson and his sons 3T. I would say this doesn't count because Tito never had a solo top 40 hit, and 3T actually hit during the hiatus of American Top 40 (but that's a technicality in my eyes. I think CT should be used for this purpose between 1995 and March 1998).
Another "almost" one for me is Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus. Miley has been a juggernaut on AT 40 this decade. Billy Ray never hit AT 40, but did hit for a few weeks on CT 40 in 1992. He has another daughter that has hit AT 40 as well, Noah.
Let me know what multi generational families have hit American Top 40 through the years. Thanks!!

Pre-AT40 but very interesting none the less--
Carla Thomas reached #3 in 1961 with Gee Whiz and then two years later her father made it to #10 with Walking The Dog; probably the only time in chart history that a daughter reached the Top 10 before her father.
Of course, both Frank & Nancy Sinatra reached the Top 10 separately and in a duet during the 1960's, as well.
Oh yeah, one more from the Casey era--the Staple Singers were a multi-generational group (father and his children) reaching #1 in 1972 with I'll Take You There.

I forgot about Rick Nelson and his sons, Matthew and Gunnar. Ricky had 1 Top 40 hit on AT "Garden Party". 18 years later, his twin sons would hit #1 in 1990 with "(Can't Live Without) Love and Affection".
To be fair, Ricky had gazillions of top 40 hit before 1972.
Also Tal Bachman had a top 10 hit with "She's So High" in 1999. His uncle and father were in BTO.
Another one: Gloria Loring ("Friends and Lovers") and Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines").

Arguably the biggest example of this phenomenon would be, from the early '90's, Wilson Phillips. Carnie and Wendy Wilson are the daughters of Beach Boy founder Brian Wilson, and Chyna Phillips is the daughter of "Papa" John Phillips. (Yeah, all the Mamas & Papas hits came before AT40, but John Phillips did have a solo top 40 hit in 1970, during Casey's first few weeks of American Top 40.)

Casey did an AT10 Spotlight on this. I’ll check it tomorrow but I’m sure Enrique and Julio Iglesias were on there.
Also Will Smith and 2 of his kids had hits: Jaden and Willow.
And there may have been 3 generations of the Boone family.

The DeBarge family DOES count - James's daughter Kristinia had her own top 40 hit in 2009 with "Goodbye", representing their second generation For the record - it was a brief appearance, but "Achy Breaky Heart" did make AT40 in 1992, peaking at #38 or so. Others I can think of: Jon Anderson had plenty of hits with Yes, his daughter Jade charted with "Sugarhigh". Dave Stewart had plenty of hits with the Eurythmics, plus a collaboration with Candy Dulfer in 1991; his daughter Kaya hit with "In Love With A Boy".

Two great tidbits I didn't know about Kristinia DeBarge and Achy hitting AT...thank you for that! If we are talking three generations outside of AT, then the Nelsons would obviously be part of that story as well with Ozzie having a slew of songs back back back in the day.

Did Don Cherry ever have a hit single? If so, that would make it three generations of his family, as his previously-mentioned son, stepdaughter and step-granddaughter all have had chart hits.

Not the jazz trumpeter, related to Nenah, Eagle-Eye, and Mabel. There was a singer named Don Cherry who had hits in the 1950s (biggest was "Band of Gold" in 1955-56), but he wasn't the same person or in any way related to the Cherrys previously mentioned.
