During the 70's & 80's, Casey voice was energentic, and in recent years, his voice has become more raspy. It is probably due to the fact that he is getting up there in age. When did his voice start becoming more raspy? I didn't start noticing this until about 3 or 4 years back.

While Casey's voice has aged just like any other voice, I feel he still is just as energetic and exciting to listen to on the current shows as the early shows.

You're absolutely right Brett, although Casey is now 72 years old (he will be 73 next Wednesday), he's still as energetic as he was when he was younger. Although his voice has gotten raspy, I still enjoy listening to him, and he is still as entertaining as ever.

Absolutely. Yes, Casey's voice has matured somewhat, but stylistically, he hasn't changed a shred in the past 20+ years.

I disagree, he was a lot more upbeat and exciting in the early 90's and back.

Part of that could be because they somehow altered his voice pitch for a while. I swear I remember hearing something about them doing this for sure during the Westwood One shows...not sure about the original AT40.

the reason I would disagree with this assessment as well is he sounded the same on his TV Show Americas Top 10 as he did on his radio shows.

Yeah, I was coming back from San Antonio in the car with my younger brother, who hadn't heard Casey in a long time, and he said "what's up with his voice? He sounds like he's sad." I said he just sounds old, but I also suspected that the engineers at Premiere don't know how to best take advantage of Casey's voice and make it sound best, like some previous folks did. In Rob's book, he talked about how one of the old AT40 engineers figured out how to best optimize all the elements of Casey's voice.
