Have there been any AT40 year end countdown years where a song appeared 2 years in a row? Several songs in the AT40 year end countdowns for 1984 and 1985 did that. But was Laura Branigan's "Gloria" in both the 1982 and 1983 AT40 year end countdowns?

From what I understand, "Gloria" only appeared in the 1983 countdown.

In 1985, when AT40 began going by Billboard's official ranking (which itself had changed its survey period), several songs that were on AT40's 1984 list registered on the 1985 list as well.

Songs got included in two year end countdowns when AT40 did their own raking one year and then the following year used BB. This was the case in 1977/78 when "You Light Up My Life" and "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" were played in the '77 and '78 YE shows. As mentioned by Hervard, it happened again in 1984/85.
AT40 compiled their own YE rankings for 1982 and 1983. For "Gloria", AT40 counted its full chart run and put it in their 1983 year end show at #9. On BB YE Pop Singles recap "Gloria" was #75 for 1982 and #56 for 1983.

It seems to happen more frequently in the modern year end shows (and there are only 40 songs instead of 100). "Cheap Thrills" and "Closer" were on the 2017 and 2018 year end charts. "Strip That Down" this year was on last 2018's year end show as well as "Feel It Still", and "Sorry, Not Sorry". "1-800-273-8255" just missed the show, clocking in at number 41 for 2018 after being on the year end show last year.

I remember on American Top 20's year-end Top 60 of 2001, Casey mentioned that "You'll Be In My Heart" was making its third straight year-end appearance.

How did "In Da Club" by 50 Cent rank on the 2003 AT40 year ender as charted and the 2004 Ryan Seacrest AT40 year ender as should be in recurrent charted?

With "Sorry" and "Feel It Still" I can understand their runs overlapping both years because of when they peaked. "Strip That Down", however peaked at 1 I believe the first week of October of last year. The song it replaced at #1, Charlie Puth's "Attention" would have finished at 37 on this year end top 40, but was a recurrent. I have to idea why one song would be considered a recurrent and the other not.

Alicia Bridges made the 1978 year-end with "I Love The Nightlife (Disco 'Round)". Had AT40 done a full top 100 of 1979, she would've made that one too, but her rank on the 1979 Billboard year-end wasn't in the top 50.

"In Da Club" made Rick Dees' Top 100 of 2005, even though it peaked in 2003 and fell off in July of that year.

Likely not, seeing as how all offered shows are Year End specials.

Harry Styles did it with “As It Was” in 2022 and 2023.

Harry Styles did it with “As It Was” in 2022 and 2023. I would imagine it happens a lot more nowadays, with big hits spending over a year in the top 40 on average.

In 1979/1980, "Rise" by Herb Alpert made both yearend countdowns. In 1981/1982, "Arthur's Theme" by Christopher Cross also made both yearend countdowns.
