Since Casey's Top 40 used the R&R chart source, what was the date the R&R CHR/Pop (used for CT40) expanded from 40 positions to 50 positions in 1995? I need it for the BOTTOM OF THE CHARTS source for a later date.

I need it for the BOTTOM OF THE CHARTS source for a later date. I believe it was May of 1995. As for the exact date, I am not sure. But maybe this will help: wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/Songruns/F/funfactory/closetoyou.htmLooking at "Close To You" by Fun Factory, it was the number 97 song for the year even though it never hit the R and R top 40. On May 12, 1995 it would "debut" at 47 and only be in the top 50 for two more weeks after 5/12/95. I'm guessing that there had to be some more weeks that it was in the top 50 before 5/12/95 because it had to gain a ton of points to be on the Top 100 of the year. So I'm thinking that the official date that it expanded to 50 would be 5/12/95, even though it looks like they were monitoring songs 41-50 before that time as well. Again, just a guess...but if the 5/5/95 chart had 50 slots, I think you would have seen "Close To You" somewhere between 41 and 50.

Your assumption is correct - May 12, 1995 was the debut of the R&R CHR Top 50 chart. I, too, think that "Close To You" was hovering between #41-50 (had those positions existed) for quite some time if it was able to make it onto the Top 100 of the year.

One of 2 CT40 or AT40 songs to not make top 40 reaches but make a year end chart, the other being in 2006 "Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas.

That one I did expect to snag a position on the year-ender since it spent several month in the 31-40 area of the chart and was shut out of the AT40 chart by all the recurrent songs. I suspect it peaked at #41 at one point.

There was a third, "21 Guns" by Green Day in 2009, which is said to have reached #30 in the Mediabase CHR archives but never actually made a weekly AT40 chart, at least as presented by Ryan Seacrest. But it did rank at #93 on the year end countdown for that year, the last time to date AT40 did a top 100. Since then it's only been a top 40 (played twice in consecutive weeks), making this obviously unlikely to happen again unless they go back to a bigger year end chart.
