*** THIS IS THE 2,000TH THREAD ON THIS BOARD!!! ***
I had a few ideas about my own 1000th post doofus67; but in the end I decided to go with your thread here and post my Disco Top 30.
My top 30 choices all happen to be club classics between 1974 and 1981. Some are more obscure with over half never made the Hot 100; nevertheless of the ones that did, there are a couple of number ones.
In order of preference :
)Disco Connection-Isaac Hayes Movement/1975
)Lay All Your Love on Me-ABBA/1981
)Ain’t Nothing Gonna Keep Me from You-Teri de Sario/1978
)You Gave Me Love-Crown Heights Affair/1980
)Ashes to Ashes-David Bowie/1980
**This or the other Bowie title at #17 has the fewer classic disco beats (compared with his other mid-70s hits like “Golden Years”). But both reached the Billboard Disco chart and were included in Whitburn’s dance book.**
)You Set My Heart on Fire-Tina Charles/1975
)Thunder in My Heart-Leo Sayer/1977
)Enola Gay-Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark/1980
)California Strut-Walter Murphy & the Big Apple Band/1976
)I Want You-Marvin Gaye/1975
)Galaxy-War/1977
)Party Line-Andrea True Connection/1976
)I Like It-Silver Convention/1975
)Desperately-Barrabas/1976
)Ooh! What a Life-Gibson Brothers/1979
)Rotation-Herb Alpert/1979
)Fashion-David Bowie/1980
)Hang on in There Baby-Johnny Bristol/1974
)Hijack-Barrabas/1974
)Let Me Know (I Have a Right)-Gloria Gaynor/1979
)Planet Earth-Duran Duran/1981
