Nokie Edwards died March 12 at the age of 82. He had hip surgery in December, 2017 and unfortunately developed an infection from which he never recovered. Nokie had several tenures in the Ventures. The native American began as bass player but swapped places with lead guitarist Bob Bogle in the early sixties. His first run ended in 1968. After an unsuccessful attempt at a solo career, he returned to the Ventures from 1973 to 1984. He left for a career in Nashville, but would make guest appearances with the band until 2012. He made several tours of Japan with his own band until early 2017. Nokie also had a modest television career, including a role in the TV series "Deadwood". He was elected into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2008 as a member of the Ventures. The Ventures had 4 Top 20 hits, the two different versions of "Walk, Don't Run", "Hawaii Five-O", and this one that peaked at #15 in 1960. Written by Alberto Dominguez, it was published in 1939 and became a hit for Xavier Cugat the next year. Among many other versions, there includes one by Glenn Miller and a Spanish version sung by Desi Arnaz for the movie "Father Takes A Wife". Perfidia - VenturesObituary
