Due to the overwhelming amount of spam that has popped up on the board of late, we have now shifted this board to private. That is, no new memberships are being accepted at this time. I'm sorry that it had to come to this, but I just don't have the time to clean things up so often.
Thank you all for your support of this board, and I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Best Scott

I applaud your decision to close down membership at this time. I bet it wasn't an easy decision, but the latest round of spam that's been occurring in the last week just goes to show that nobody wins if newbies wanted to join.

Maybe add some more moderators? Like some folks who are here all the time.
just a thought

Or maybe manually review memberships? Spambots will usually have usernames that are gibberish or disconnected words.

Best Scott Any chance that the membership acceptance rules could be changed temporarily at this time? I'm thinking for maybe a month or until this CoVid-19 period is over. I think we could get about 20 or 30 responsible members to join in a time period like that. Unfortunately, I think we would also get some spammers trying to sneak in again, but I would be willing to serve as a temporary administrator and check all new messages during this temporary period twice a day. I've been retired for 5 years now so I could commit to doing this twice a day for a month or two. Or you could find someone else to help block the spammers. I just know how devastated I would have been if I hadn't been allowed to join this group when I retired 5 years ago.

I've just seen someone over on Pulse Music Board ask why they couldn't join, and I passed on Scott's explanation. I understand that Scott has his reasons, but still feel bad for those who legitimately want to be on both sites (I've been on them now for north of 7 years). dL
